Harini is a mish-mash of several interests:
- I am a Learning Designer who uses non-linear, experiential and sense-driven methodologies to participate and engage with the world around us. Critical thinking lies at the base of my learning design work. I draw from several thinkers like Jiddu Krishnamurti, Christopher Uhl, David Abram, Ivor Goodson and Scherto Gill to frame an understanding of the politics of learning and teaching. While a lot of my current work falls in the realm of Environmental Education, I believe that when we build wonder and connection towards nature, the learnings from such a connection can be expanded and brought into any field of our choice.
- I am a Communications Strategist with experience in marketing and social communications. While social media has its merits, I have seen that the most effective communications are bottom-up. They come from primary or secondary engagement on field, and are designed in the language of the people they target. This is where my learning design work blends into my communications work — my work is founded on the belief that once I know what I want to say and for whom, it is first important for me to understand how to say it to the intended audience. The tools of communication only come after. This is the focus of my strategy work, which then lends itself to outputs in graphic design, web design, video editing and photography.
- I am a social documentary photographer deeply interested in people geographies and social and cultural relationships which manifest themselves in the way people adopt a place/space of their own. I am drawn to themes of dwelling, being and community — aspects of the tenacity of human beings which often get ignored among mainstream narratives of development and capitalist growth.
